Sadie came to FFL
as a 6 week old kitten. As you can see she had a
severe bilateral eye infection. Her right eye had actually ruptured. She was infested with fleas, worms and ear mites. She was very malnourished and despite her condition managed to purr very loudly and insist on being held. After months of rehabilitation and removal of her right eye she has blossomed into a very fat playful ,extremely affectionate little girl. She has very limited vision in her left eye and therefore could only go to a home with someone who understood her limitations. We finally found that perfect home for her. She is living in a one level home that has been adjusted to her needs. On arrival to her new home she was given a baby shower and her new owner was able to take PET-ternity leave to stay home to orientate her to her new environment! Both absolutely love each other!
MAX
Max's was the product of 4 un-spayed outdoor females. (All have now been spayed). There were 7 in the combined litters. All but Max were surrendered to FFL. Max had already been given away at an early age. We received a phone call from the person who had him stating that she no longer wanted him as he wasn't using the litter box. On arrival to FFL we discovered that on top of being very traumatized by something he was infested with fleas. We stopped counting at 200. Left un treated Max would have died with anemia. After intensive flea treatments and de-worming he developed into a beautiful social boy. He diligently uses his litter box and has since been adopted to a family who love him dearly. He also has a four legged brother to play with. All is well.
JENNA
Jenna came from a multi cat household. She was born with very disfigured front legs. She was severely traumatized by the other cats in the household. She spent all of her time hiding. Her nails were grown into the pads of her paws. She was surrendered to FFL and it took many months for her to feel safe. She spent the majority of her time hiding under blankets and would hide at the drop of a pin. Despite her disability she is very agile and runs faster than any cat I have known. She was spayed and vaccinated and after 8 long months we finally found her a good home for her. Her new environment has no other pets or small children. Only her owner her showers her with tons of attention!
Casper and Marmalade On a cold morning in November 2004 another farmer North of Belleville walking back from his barn witnessed a truck slowing down and throwing a bag on his property. Unable to read the license plate of the vehicle as it drove away he angrily walked down to the area to pick up what he thought was garbage that someone was carelessly disposing of. What he found were 2 beautiful boys tied inside a grocery bag. They were absolutely terrified. They were brought to Fixed Fur Life and after months of TLC they began to trust humans again. Marmalade and Casper were neutered and vaccinated and adopted out together. They are each others support system and are inseparable. Both boys have flourished into happy well adjusted cats despitethe trauma they suffered.
A Happy Ending for Harley and Missy
Harley and Missy were abandoned by their owner when they were just 2 days old. They were placed in a shoebox and simply left outside. Thanks to a concerned individual the kittens were surrendered to Fixed Fur Life for intensive care and bottle feeding. Very dehydrated and infested with fleas these poor vulnerable babies had to overcome many hurdles. As time went on they matured into two extremely affectionate felines. They have since found their forever home together.
Trixie Trixie was one of our bottle fed Kittens. As you can see she developed into an absolutely beautiful girl! She was recently overheard saying "I'm not fat I'm just Fluffy!"
